Road Closures

From time to time, the City permits the temporary closure of a street to facilitate construction and maintenance activities, or to provide a safe environment for a community event. Requests for construction-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Construction Inspection Division. Requests for event-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Special Events Division.

    Due to the construction at 200 E. Washington St., Spring St. between E. Washington St and E. McBee Ave will have lane shifts with limited lane widths. Travel ways will be delineated with traffic barriers and posted signage. Drivers may enter and exit the Spring St Garage in either direction onto Spring St. S Irvine St between E.     This area will be used to stage precast panel deliveries for the parking deck being built at the Hyatt Place Hotel site located at 128 E Broad. Detour routes will be posted.

  2. Chick Springs Road, from Wade Hampton Blvd. to Rutherford Rd.

    Chick Springs Road, from Wade Hampton Boulevard to Rutherford Road, is scheduled to be resurfaced using a process called Cement Modified Recycled Base (CMRB), which involves mixing the existing asphalt and subgrade with cement to make the road base stronger. After the CMRB is complete, the concrete will be allowed to cure with a temporary chip seal surface coat and then a traditional asphalt surface will be placed on top.     The northbound lane will be closed for a few hours to allow Duke Energy to replace street lights. The street will reopen to traffic as soon as the work is completed.
