Road Closures

From time to time, the City permits the temporary closure of a street to facilitate construction and maintenance activities, or to provide a safe environment for a community event. Requests for construction-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Construction Inspection Division. Requests for event-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Special Events Division.

  2. Haywood Road, from I-385 to Woods Crossing Road

    Weather permitting, on Monday, May 9, the City of Greenville and Duke Energy will begin work on a construction project to bury the overhead utility lines on Haywood Road between I-385 and Woods Crossing Road. The scope of work will include installation of an electrical duct bank system and new mast arm traffic signal systems at the two entrances to Haywood Mall. Construction is expected to be completed by October 2016.

  2. Swamp Rabbit Trail, linking Cleveland Park to Falls Park

    Beginning Tuesday, September 6, the section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail linking Cleveland Park to Falls Park will be temporarily closed during the next phase of construction of the Cancer Survivors Park. The boardwalk will remain open until mid-October, and will provide access to Falls Park via Church Street.     The following streets will be closed from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 (and every Saturday through October 29) for the TD Saturday Market: • Main Street, from Court Street to Washington Street • McBee Avenue, from Laurens Street to Brown Street Note: The downtown trolley will follow a detour route around the market.
