If you believe that you are the victim of identity theft and there is fraudulent information on your driving record and/or license, following these steps.
Obtain a Copy Of Your Driving Record
You should get a certified copy of your driving record. Visit the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles website to obtain a copy or to learn more. The fee is $6 for a certified copy.
You may also visit your local SCDMV field office. Contact the SCDMV by email at firstname.lastname@example.org by phone at 803-896-9688.
File a Police ReportFile a police report with your local law enforcement or at the police department where the identity theft occurred.

Follow one of the following steps to report identity theft.
Place a Fraud Alert by contacting the 3 consumer reporting companies:
File a Complaint
- You may File a Complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
- Call 1-877-ID-THEFT
- Write to:

- Complete the ID Theft Affidavit (PDF) offered by the FTC.
You may close any bank accounts or credit card accounts that may have been compromised. You may also choose to file a police report.
