Smoke-Free Greenville
Representatives from the hospitality
industry and the medical community joined City officials December 12, 2006, for the unveiling
of the City’s new Breathe Easy marketing campaign which promotes Greenville’s unique
atmosphere, charm and amenities in a smoke-free environment. In November 2006, City
Council voted to ban smoking in public places in an effort to improve quality of
life in the City.
The Breathe Easy campaign came about after City staff met with Greenville business
owners to gain input on promoting the benefits of patronizing smoke-free restaurants
and bars. The campaign showcases the quality of life and attention to detail in
the city. Upcoming advertisements highlight the unrivaled mix of retail, restaurants,
bars and cultural opportunities found in Greenville. The Breathe Easy campaign features
an energetic new logo debuting initially on buttons and stickers for bar and restaurant
owners to distribute to their staff and customers. The logo will be seen on approximately
100 banners in the city and it will be incorporated into a window decal for use
by city bars and restaurants to make sure customers know businesses are smoke-free.
