Road Closures

From time to time, the City permits the temporary closure of a street to facilitate construction and maintenance activities, or to provide a safe environment for a community event. Requests for construction-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Construction Inspection Division. Requests for event-related road closures are reviewed and approved by the Special Events Division.

  2. Swamp Rabbit Trail, between Willard and Hudson Streets

    Beginning Monday, February 8, the section of the Swamp Rabbit Trail between Willard Street and Hudson Street will be closed as part of the Unity Park construction. A detour along Mayberry Street will be in place through the end of the year. Trail users can park in the new lot on Delano Drive or at Mayberry Field and use the existing sidewalk or the newly striped bike lane along Mayberry Street to reach the trail connections on either end of the closure.   2. Overnight Lane Closures - Stone Avenue, between Rutherford and Bennett Streets

    SCDOT is scheduled to begin a paving project on Stone Avenue between Rutherford Street and Bennett Street this Sunday, April 25. The work will take place at night and lane closures will be required. The project is expected to take at least a month to complete. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution when traveling in the vicinity and to watch for flagmen and other construction personnel and equipment.   2. Temporary Lane Closures and Detours along McDaniel Avenue

    Work is expected to begin on Monday to replace the curb ramps, which provide access between the sidewalk and the roadway, along McDaniel Avenue to make them ADA-compliant. A total of 42 ramps will be replaced and the project is expected to take 2 - 4 weeks to complete (weather permitting). During that time, temporary closures and detours may be necessary.
