Dorothy Dowe

ABOUT THE MEMBER AT-LARGE

While originally from New York City, Dorothy is a 30-year resident of Greenville and has invested in the Greenville community through service on numerous boards, including the City of Greenville Public Safety Citizen Review Board, Pleasant Valley Connection and League of Women Voters, as well as leading PTA and community organizations for the past 20 years.

Dorothy currently serves as Vice Mayor Pro Tem for the council. She is the council liaison to the Greenville Transit Authority, the Greenville Downtown Airport and serves on the Visit Greenville SC Board of Directors. Dorothy is committed to ensuring Greenville is a place where citizens are actively engaged in the decisions that affect them, improving access to affordable housing and transportation and managing growth to maximize Greenville’s potential while maintaining a strong commitment to community and quality of life.

Dorothy DoweShe holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Duke University, a Master of Business Administration from the USC Darla Moore School of Business and a Professional Engineering licensure in the state of Alabama. She began her career in industrial manufacturing as a project engineer with International Paper Company and later led in design engineering and project management with CRS Sirrine and Jacobs Engineering Group. After transitioning her career, Dorothy founded two small businesses in academic consulting and now serves as director of her consulting firm.

Dorothy is an accomplished runner and enjoys travel and spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband, Steve, have two grown children.
