Cops on the Court

Cops on the Court is an innovative, interactive basketball program in which Greenville Police Department officers, dressed in gym clothes, play basketball with community youth in an effort to improve community relationships and provide mentoring to at-risk youth.

Locations

West Greenville Community Center

When: 4:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., on most Mondays

Where: West Greenville Community Center, 8 Rochester Street

Who: Youth age 10-18

Note: Parents/guardians are required to sign a waiver for anyone under the age of 18.


Sterling Elementary School (Nicholtown)

When: 4:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on most Thursdays

Where: Sterling Elementary School, 99 John McCarroll Way

Who: Youth age 10-18

Note: Parents/guardians are required to sign a waiver for anyone under the age of 18.


Augusta Heights Baptist Church (Pleasant Valley)

When: 4:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on most Fridays ending September 20th

Where: Augusta Heights Baptist Church, 3018 Augusta Street, Greenville

Who: Youth age 10-18

Note: Parents/guardians are required to sign a waiver for anyone under the age of 18.

Cops on the Court's goals are to:

  • Build trust and understanding between at-risk youth and police officers by bringing youth into regular contact with police officers in a positive and neutral setting
  • Keep kids off the streets and out of trouble by providing them with a positive alternative and meaningful connections to positive role models
  • Curtail neighborhood crime, violence, and gang participation
