The City of Greenville hired the consulting firm Resonance to create its Economic Development Strategic Plan, identifying key opportunities for partnerships and recommending strategies to foster balanced growth.
Resonance is a leading advisor in economic development, real estate and tourism. They help cities understand market trends, assess their strengths and weaknesses, engage the community, develop long term plans and create branding, storytelling and marketing campaigns.
The Resonance team has worked with more than 50 cities and communities to create economic and destination development strategies, including Tulsa, Scottsdale, Portland and Houston. Plans have focused on innovation, technology, collaboration and startups, complementing our recently launched From Here You Can Change the World initiative.
The feedback we receive through this and other public engagement opportunities over the course of the project will be invaluable as we develop a vision and strategy for future economic development efforts.
As part of the plan development, the City created a short survey to solicit insight from residents. The City also wants insight and input from Greenville business owners, to inform our effort and support business growth.
Resonance believes Greenville’s Economic Development Strategic Plan should reflect GVL2040’s core values and vision, be informed by residents, businesses and elected officials and lay a foundation for collaboration.
Focus areas will include:
Economic clustering to include the creation of Innovation Districts
Support for small business/entrepreneurship
Rise of talent economy
Retention, expansion and redevelopment
To help Greenville build an export-driven economy that is inclusive and forward-looking, Resonance will examine Greenville’s industry clusters through three different lenses:
