Wil Brasington

About the Council Member

Wil has been a member of City Council since 2017. He previously served on the City’s Planning Commission and the Residential Infill Task Force and is a past president of the Alta Vista Neighborhood Association.  

Wil earned a degree in history from Clemson University, where he served as student body president, and a Master of Business Administration from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He is also a graduate of Leadership Greenville and Leadership South Carolina. 

Wil is the executive director of the Clemson Alumni Association, which provides constituency services, engagement opportunities and communications to nearly 150,000 Clemson alumni around the world. In addition to his role as Clemson University’s chief alumni officer, Wil also previously served as a special assistant to the president. 

Wil has been a member of several community boards, including the Greenville Chamber board of directors, where he was vice-chair of both leadership development and communications and community engagement, and received the Chairman's Award in 2017 for his contributions. He also served on the boards of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas and the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority and was recognized by Greenville Business Magazine as one of Greenville’s “Best and Brightest Under 35” in 2010. Additionally, he is a former chair of the Greenville Revitalization Corporation board of directors. 

Wil and his wife, Laura, have two children, Elizabeth and Wilson.
