Submitting An Event to the Community Calendar

All submissions will be reviewed before posting to the city's Community Calendar. The city has the discretion to determine which public events will be included in the calendar. The events should provide entertainment, food or other attractions to a diverse population, and promote the economic benefits of tourism or enhance the quality of life of the community. All events must be open to the general public (for free or cost), located within the City of Greenville and organized for non-profit purposes.

Bela Fleck Banjo Documentary “Throw Down Your Heart”

Enjoy a screening and discussion on the film "Throw Down Your Heart" a documentary from 2008 which was funded solely by sixteen-time GRAMMY winner Bela Fleck at the Greenville Library.  The film connects the rich cultural origins of the banjo in Africa and the Caribbean to the U.S. Appalachian region, tracing its evolution as an instrument with a pivotal role in the forefront of one of America’s unique musical genres, bluegrass. In partnership with the Carolina Music Museum and the Spartanburg Philharmonic.
