On October 7, 2017, George Pegram was found deceased at Rutherford St. and Walker St. after being stabbed multiple times. Immediately after being notified about the homicide, detectives and patrol officers sprang into action attempting to find the suspect.
Later that night, officers scoured the area, looking for potential witnesses and evidence. Officers conducted a field interview with several individuals at Harvley St. and Rutherford St. During this interaction, one of the individuals provided a false name to officers and was arrested.
After the arrest, there was evidence found on his person that linked him to the homicide. On October 8, patrol continued to look for potential witnesses and were able to find multiple, who provided their accounts as to what happened to Pegram.
Yesterday, 48-year-old Vernon Evans Jordan was arrested for the murder of George Pegram. He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Jordan is currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on no bond.
