[ARCHIVED] Cops on the Court

Please join the Greenville Police Department’s Community Response Team on Friday, July 24th as we kick-off the new Cops on the Court program. As an unveiling for the program, the Clemson Men’s Basketball Team will be present. We are excited to partner with the Greenville Health System and Clemson Basketball for this very important program.

Cops on the Court is an innovative gang and violence prevention initiative by the Greenville Police Department aimed at building and strengthening a positive relationship between police and the community while preventing gang involvement and criminal activity in its at-risk youth. Cops on the Court is a basketball mentoring program created by the Greenville police Department’s Community Response Team.

Cops on the Court will begin in the Pleasant Valley community- an area of high crime in Greenville. The Augusta Heights Baptist Church in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood has offered their support and made their basketball gym available for the program, free of charge. Cops on the Court will take place every Friday night at the Augusta Heights Baptist Church from 6-9pm. Greenville Police Officers will play basketball with the youth (ages 10 and up) and we welcome parents and other family members to attend.

Cops on the Court is unique from other national urban basketball programs or leagues. Instead of merely supervising or coaching the basketball program, we will actually be playing basketball and developing friendly relationships with community members who attend the program.
