At 11:50 pm Saturday evening, officers were called to an aggravated assault on N. Main St. near E. Coffee St., where they encountered three victims suffering from knife wounds to torsos/chests. Officers applied recently acquired field medical dressings to seal wound(s) on the critical patient until EMS arrived and assumed medical care.
Immediate/simultaneous investigation resulted in officers securing the suspects at the Richardson St. Garage. The suspect suffered severe injuries to one or more of his own fingers as he assaulted the other three. The suspected knife was located between Sharkey's and the suspect location.
Current information indicates the suspects became enraged and attacked the three victims. The details about what started the altercation are still being collected and clarified.
In addition to field patrol, we were very fortunate to have five extra duty officers downtown, which was exceptionally busy tonight. These officers were able to mass, manage and quickly settle what was described as a chaotic scene.
Uniform Patrol and Detectives have arrested a father and son in connection with these aggravated assaults. Each of the individuals arrested are at the Greenville County Detention Center on a temporary commitment. I will be releasing their names, charges and photographs in a couple hours. Two of the victims remain in critical condition at the hospital and the other has been released.
