City of Greenville Parks and Recreation


The City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to share its upcoming Winter Program Guide.  Providing a variety of educational, social, and athletic activities, this year's winter lineup is sure to have something for participants of all ages.  We encourage you to join one of our many exciting programs this winter and to take a look at all the great things happening in Parks and Recreation.

From basketball to Santa's Workshop, we offer a wide variety of activities that will surely get your child active and engaged.

Santa's Workshop

Santa's Workshop
Join us on Saturday, December 3 from 1pm-3pm at the Sears Recreation Center as Santa checks his list by the chimney.  Take a free photo with Santa in addition to enjoying cider, cookies, crafts, and elves!

Holiday Break Camp
For children ages 5-12, this camp will take place at the Bobby Pearse Community Center from 12/19 through 12/22.  Camp begins at 7:30am and ends at 6pm with the days packed full of games, crafts, music, and much more.
Youth Instructional Basketball
This coed instructional basketball program provides skill instruction and games for young players ages 4 through 8 years old.  A 4/5 year old program and a 6-8 year old program will run on Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings at Park Avenue Gym.  The season begins on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.   
Youth Basketball League
Showcasing 4 age divisions this season, the City of Greenville Youth Basketball League will provide a competitive basketball atmosphere for players ages 7 through 14 years old.  Register your team today for $125 by calling our Athletics Department at 864-467-8011.
Study Buddies Afterschool Program
Serving students at our 5 community centers, the Study Buddies Afterschool Program provides homework assistance, life skills development, and recreation activities for children ages 5-12.  West Greenville Community Center and Juanita Butler Community Center are still accepting participants at this time.

Girl Scouts
For information on our current troops and their meeting times and locations, please call 864-467-4327 (David Hellams Community Center) or 864-467-4330 (Nicholtown Community Center).   
Homeschool Fitness
Beginning January 9, 2017, Homeschool Fitness will be offered at the Bobby Pearse Community Center for students ages 5 through 13.  This program allows and encourages homeschooled students and/or Co-ops to participate in physical education in a structured and organized setting.

Momentum Bike Club
The Momentum Bike Club meets every Monday at 4:30pm at the David Hellams Community Center.  Kids 8-14 years of age are welcome to join this program.

LiveWell Awards

Program Spotlight!

Hats off to each of our wonderful Afterschool Programs!  Recently, the Afterschool Programs run at Bobby Pearse Community Center, David Hellams Community Center, Nicholtown Community Center, and West Greenville Community Center were awarded Silver and/or Gold level recognitions at the LiveWell Greenville Out of School Time Awards Celebration.  Our staff and kids continue to be advocates for promoting community wellness in the City of Greenville and they are making strides in helping to "make the healthy choice the easy choice."  Congratulations!

Our adult programs are sure to offer something for everyone! Take a look at what you can participate in this winter.

Active Adults Senior Program

Fitness Boot Camp
Designed for all fitness levels, Fitness Boot Camp focuses on muscular strength, flexibility, and muscular endurance.  Classes meet 2x or 3x per week at the Sears Recreation Center.  New 7-week sessions begin quarterly.

Community Yoga
     This 8-week yoga program is taught once per week at the Bobby Pearse Community Center.  All levels are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. 

Active Adults Senior Program
    For men and women ages 55+, the Active Adults Senior Program is sure to keep you busy.  From field trips to craft days and so much more, join in on the fun and fellowship that this program offers.  This program meets Monday through Friday from 9am - 1pm at the David Hellams Community Center.

Strong Mama's Fitness
     A unique workout group that is geared toward women including moms who want to stay fit and connect with other women.  This class allows participants to engage with their kids by teaching them how much fun it is to exercise and stay healthy.  Classes meet weekly from 9:30am - 10:30am.

Upstate Pickleball
The Upstate Pickleball Club meets weekly at Gower Park. 

Community Ladies Night Out
Ladies, these nights are for you.  Meeting the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00pm, ladies from the Greenville community are welcome to attend these get-togethers at the David Hellams Community Center.

Adult Softball
Spring league play is set to begin in March 2017.  Coed and Men's leagues are available.  Registration will open in early February.
