Tis' the season to try new things, meet new people, and to get involved in your community. We have a diverse selection of programs for everyone - children, adults, and families.  Take a look at all we are offering this winter and join in. 


Santa's Workshop

Ho! Ho! Ho! Children, young and old, we invite you to join us and Santa Claus at the Sears Recreation Center from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9.  Hang your stockings, trim your trees, and then make your way downtown to meet Santa! The center will be buzzing with music, crafts, cider and snacks, and Christmas cheer.  Admission is free so bring the whole family, and tell a friend.

Youth Programs (ages 4-12)

Instructional Basketball (January 9-February 27)
Our coed instructional basketball program provides skill instruction and games for ages 4-6. Practices and non-competitive games are held at Park Avenue Gym on Tuesday evenings. Sign up for one of two sessions: 5:30-6:15 p.m. or 6:30-7:15 p.m. Please call our Athletics Division at (864) 467-8011 for more information.

Recreational Basketball Program (November 27-February 24)
This program is sure to be a slam dunk! Register by November 20 to secure your child's spot. This coed program is for players ages 6-12. If you are still looking for a competitive, organized, and fun basketball program for your child, we've got it! Three divisions are available: 8U, 10U, and 12U. Please call our Athletics Division at (864) 467-8011 for more information.

Parents' Night Out (November 17)
Need a break?  Register your children (ages 5-12) today and enjoy an evening out together sans kids. Catch dinner and a movie or just plan some time to relax while we watch the kids. Participants will be engaged in a variety of activities including games, crafts, music, and much more! Dinner and a snack are included. Space is limited! Please call the Bobby Pearse Community Center at (864) 467-4331 for more information.

Holiday Break Camp (December 21 & 22 or December 28 &29)
The holiday season is upon us. If you are searching for a safe, organized, and exciting camp to send your children to while they are out of school then look no further!  Sigh up today for one, or both, of our Holiday Break Camp sessions.  Session 1 runs on December 21 and December 22 and Session 2 runs on December 28 and December 29. Campers, ages 5-12, will spend their fun-filled days engaged in games, crafts, field trips, and other exciting activities. Camp runs from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
Saturday Writing Club (January 6-May 26)
Join Greenville Wordsmiths at the Bobby Pearse Community Center on the first and third Saturday of each month. Young authors, ages 8-13, will meet to write , edit , and design a hardback book of stories. This is a great opportunity for kids who love - and hate - writing to stretch their imaginations, make new friends, and become authors. Saturday Writing Club is a free program; space is limited so be sure to register your child as soon as possible. Please call (864) 467-4331 for more information and to register.

Study Buddies Afterschool Program (August 22-June 5)
A few spots remain for our afterschool tutorial program. The West Greenville Community Center and Juanita Butler Community Center currently have limited availability for students interested in the Study Buddy Afterschool Program. This program runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m. and features homework assistance, tutoring, life skills development, recreational activities, arts and crafts projects, and much more.

Adult Programs

We invite you to join us at the Bobby Pearse Community Center for this 8-week yoga program. This 60 minute class is taught twice per week, Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. No experience is needed and all levels are welcome. The next session will begin on December 4.

Strictly Salsa by Ballroom Alchemy
Join Ballroom Alchemy on Monday evenings and dance the night away. Learn to Salsa, make new friends, and have some fun. Please call (864) 467-4330 for more information.

Active Adults Senior Program
For men and women age 55+. This program is sure to keep you busy. From fields trips to craft days and so much more, you won't want to miss out on the fun and fellowship that this program offers. The Active Adults Senior Program meets Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the David Hellams Community Center.

Ladies Night Out
Ladies, this one is just for you! Our ladies-only get-togethers are held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the David Hellams Community Center. Please contact the center at (864) 467-4327 for more information.

Community Dance Programs
Downtown Line Dance: Tuesdays; 6:15 p.m. at Sears Recreation Center
Greenville Swing: Tuesdays; 7:30 p.m. at McPherson Log Cabin
Greenville Lindy Hop: Thursdays; 7:00 p.m. at Sears Recreation Center
Greenville International Folk Dance: Mondays; 7:00 p.m. at Sears Recreation Center

Senior Softball
This fun-filled softball program is for men and women ages 55+. Join us on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. at Cleveland Park. Come meet new people, get some exercise, and most importantly, have fun!

Strong Mamas Fitness
Strong Mamas is a unique workout group that is geared toward women, including moms, who want to stay fit and connect with other women. This class allows participants to engage with their kids by teaching them how much fun it is to exercise and stay healthy. This workout group is also accompanied by play dates, themed classes, and moms' nights out. For more information, please visit Strong Mamas.
