City Council Approves Additional Funding for Affordable Housing Developments
On November 12, City Council approved the appropriation of an additional $1.5 million in support of affordable housing. Funding will be made available to the Greenville Housing Fund and then loaned to developers of affordable housing. This is in addition to the City's original investment of $2.5 million in 2017.
City Council also approved $130,000 to be awarded to Habitat for Humanity for infrastructure improvements in support of the Joshua's Way development, which will provide seven affordable rental homes for senior citizens and an additional six units for sale in the Sterling neighborhood.
